Uzbekistan occupies the central part of Central Asia and shares borders with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and in the south – with Afghanistan. Square of the country is 448 900 sq.km. The population is 31,000,500 people. Administrative divisions – 12 regions and the Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan. Uzbekistan is multinational state – more than 100 ethnic groups and nationalities living in the country, dominated by Uzbeks. Official language -Uzbek. International language of communication is Russian.
Uzbekistan is a country with a great diversity of natural conditions. There are many rushing rivers, arid desert of Kyzyl-Kum, the drying Aral Sea-lake (the result of improper use of river water, feeding it the pool), there are flat, like a table, plain and wildly piled to the sky high mountains. There are forests (including wild fruit) and salt marshes are almost naked. The journey from end to end on its open spaces can provide insight into almost all the natural areas that exist in Central Asia. Mountain ranges of Uzbekistan belong to the Tian Shan and Pamir-Alai systems. Most of the rivers have a snow-rain power and therefore have a very irregular regime: they swell in the spring, leaving the large mass of water, and in the rest of the year remain dry, often even dry. The climate is sharply continental with hot and dry summer (the absolute maximum of 45 degrees) and quite cold winters (absolute minimum of 25 degrees).
The leading trend in agriculture covers cotton, but well-developed silkworm breeding, rice cultivation, horticulture, vegetable growing, viticulture and karakul.
Subsoil of republic is rich with a variety of minerals (almost the entire periodic table): coal, oil, gas, non-ferrous and rare earth metals, gold, uranium, potash and rock salt, gypsum, marble, graphite, sulfur, and more. There are also mineral springs used for the treatment of various diseases (health centers, hospitals, spas).
The current territory of Uzbekistan repeatedly the scene of grandiose battles and conquests.
