Kashkadarya region situated at 200 km from Termez to the northwest . This valley is located on both banks of the Kashkadarya River. From the East it limits the spurs of the Hissar Range, the North – Zeravshan (Pamir-Alai mountain system). It perfectly combines the snow-capped mountains with many waterfalls from small mountain streams and fragrant flowers valley waterless steppes and sand dunes, recorded from the desert, located on the territory of Turkmenistan. The region is rich in minerals, including deposits of oil. The administrative center – the city of Karshi. It is a modern industrial center of Uzbekistan, having centuries-old history. The second city in size and historical significance of Kashkadarya – Shahrisabz – birthplace of Amir Timur (Tamerlane). In XIV-XV centuries it was the main city of the region cache, estates Turko-Mongol tribe, “Barlas”, which belonged to the terrible Tamerlane. During  Tamerlane’s rule , Shahrisabz was experiencing unprecedented prosperity and built up luxury monumental buildings. With XVI the city gradually fell into decay. At the beginning of the XIX century – is the residence of the local Bey. Now it is a modern city with a 25-centuries-old past.

Located in the Southeast of the Republic, on the Western outskirts of the Pamir-Alai mountain system, in the basin of the river Kashkadarya.
In the north-west and north of the region extends the Karshi steppe, in the south-west – the sands of the Sundukli desert, in the South – the Nishan steppe, the Eastern part is occupied by the Kitabo-Kamashin foothill plain. In the Northeast, East and South, the mountains are riddled with ridges, which prevent the penetration of cold air masses into this territory, which condenses the condensation of moist air currents from the West.
Sharply continental climate, in some places – subtropical: summer is dry and hot, winter is warm.

The Kashkadarya River, which has numerous tributaries flowing down from the mountains, is the main water artery of the region. Irrigation canals and a reservoir feed irrigated agriculture in the largest – Karshi, Kitabo-Shakhrisabz and Guzaro-Kamashinsky – regions of the province, forming three oases.

10.2% of the agricultural products of Uzbekistan the region delivers to the market of the Republic. Main branches: cotton growing, silkworm breeding, grain growing, vegetable growing. Livestock has a meat and dairy direction. Sheep breeding is developed in mountainous areas.
In the bowels of the region, gas, oil, zinc, marble, sulfur, and salt are extracted. The basis of industry is the processing of natural gas (Mubarek gas processing plant), oil refining. The enterprises of cotton-cleaning, oil-extraction, textile, sewing, food industries, manufacture of building materials work.
The pipelines – Shurtan-Bukhara-Gazli-Tashkent, Shurtan-Mubarek, Karakitay-Karshi – stretched for 2,106 km.
Higher educational establishments of the region are represented by the State University, Karshi Economic Institute, branches of the Bukhara Technological Institute of Food and Light Industry, Tashkent Technical University.
The largest city of Kashkadarya is the regional center of Karshi, which originated in the first half of the XIV century on the Southern side of the foot of the Kungurtau Upland (here an ancient caravan route from Bukhara and Samarkand to India through Afghanistan took place). The town was called “Neseph” at that time. Trade in dried fruits, karakul smuts, sheep wool and handicrafts was well established here.
Now Karshi – the largest industrial city of the region, drowning in the greenery of gardens and parks. Far beyond the boundaries of the Karshi region, it is famous for the production of the best non-paved carpets (palaces) in Uzbekistan.
On the south-western outskirts of the region is the largest center of the gas industry – the city of Mubarek. A unique technological system for cleaning gas from hydrogen sulphide is carried out at the gas processing plant located here. One of the local attractions is artificially planted saxaul park.
In the upper reaches of the Kashkadarya River lies the Kitabo-Shakhrisab Basin, surrounded by the Zeravshan, Gissar and Yakkabag Ranges (the most densely populated in the Kashkadarya Valley). The climate here is softer than in the entire territory of the region – relatively warm winters and not very hot summers. The basin’s lands are occupied mainly by extensive cotton fields, planted with mulberry.

Shakhrisabz is the homeland of Amir Timur (Tamerlane) – the main city of the basin. Here works an art factory, known in the republic for its embroiderers, embroiderers suzane, carpets, tubes, bags, belts, and other products.

Not far from Shakhrisabz is a small town – Kitab, known for its astronomical latitudinal station (only five in the world). The stations are located on the same geographical latitude: Carloforte – in Italy, Yukaya and Gaithersburg – in the USA, Mitsuzawa – in Japan).
Tour to Shakhrisabz – Green city of Uzbekistan. Shakhrisabz is also the birthplace of Tamirlan, where the ruler built numerous Mechetov and Medres.
